At Reachout America, we believe in showing up when it matters most. Whether it's offering a ride to safety, a warm meal, or a comforting voice during a crisis, our team is committed to compassionate action.Â
While we’re proud to be a nonprofit rooted in service, we’re also bound by guidelines put in place to ensure we operate responsibly and sustainably. Our Board of Directors has set a $200 cap on the amount any individual staff member can allocate per emergency situation. In some cases, we reach that limit quickly, especially when multiple requests come in during the same day.
We understand that when someone is in crisis, $200 can feel like a drop in the bucket. But please know:
🧡 We never stop caring.
🧡 We always try to connect people with additional resources.
🧡 And we will continue to listen, even when our hands are tied.
You may not know this, but Reachout America began as a humble project to support children with special needs through equine therapy. That mission remains the core of what we do. While our hearts and hands have extended into broader outreach, especially during emergencies, our primary funding, partnerships, and programs still center around helping these incredible children and their families.
That’s why, at times, we must draw a line, not because we don’t want to do more, but because we must protect the sustainability of the mission we were founded on.
If we ever have to say “we can’t”, it’s not because we don’t care; it’s because we care deeply enough to be honest, responsible, and focused. We hope you'll still feel seen, supported, and heard. And whenever we can help, you can trust that we absolutely will.
If you or someone you know is in urgent need and we've reached our limit, we will always try to recommend trusted partners or agencies who may be able to step in.
🕊️ Thank you for understanding.
🕊️ Thank you for believing in us.
🕊️ And thank you for allowing us to be part of your story, even if only for a chapter.
With compassion,
The Reachout America Team
